Sat. March 19th – Last Saturday Shoe Drive! – Please bring your new and gently worn shoes to our Drive-thru, Drop off event from 9am-3pm at UCHS. We’ll be located at the school bus/pick up area. We also have a bin located in UCHS front office until 3/25/22. UCHS PTSA will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit our SGP. All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Org network to help create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunities are limited. UCHS Senior Grad Party Committee is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser on Saturday, March 5th at University City High School from 9a-3p to raise funds for our end-of-year party. UCHS PTSA will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes. Those dollars will benefit our senior grad party.
Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used and new shoes at our drive by, drop off event in front of UCHS. (6949 Genesee Avenue). We’ll be located at the school bus/pick up area.

There will be a bin in the driveway or leave them by the garage.
All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families.

That’s why California State PTA has two scholarships to help you achieve your college dreams and your life goals.
Two scholarships are available for your application:
$500-$1,000 Volunteer Service Scholarship — This scholarship recognizes graduating seniors for their volunteer service in schools and communities, allowing them to register for courses at accredited colleges, universities, trade or technical schools. Applicants must be PTA members graduating from a California high school between January 1 and June 30 of the current academic year.
$500 Dr. Ralph E. White Graduating Senior Scholarship – Honoring the volunteer and public-service legacy of Dr. Ralph E. White and his wife, Eleanor, this additional scholarship provides $500 each to two successful applicants of the Volunteer Service Scholarship who intend to pursue a career in a medical field.
Applications, reference forms and all supporting documents must be received in the California State PTA office by February 1, 2022. All applicants are notified of their status in March. Scholarship winners receive a letter of congratulations and recognition certificate from California State PTA along with a check. Download the application for a complete list of requirements.
On December 15th, a wonderful time was had by all during a wintry morning (as much as can be in San Diego) with a breakfast to win the day! Our PTSA lead Jenny Goodman with the help of Meredith Kennedy and a few other PTSA ‘elves’ prepared a meal with an assortment of choices for the many teachers and staff. Thanks go out to all those who either donated items, prepared items, or put them out in a timely and orderly fashion. Thanks also goes to the staff members who helped bring the tables, set up the cover, and gave PTSA members access to the materials needed for it to be a success.
Last, but not least, thank you to all the PTSA members – your membership allows us to show our appreciation for the teachers’/staff’s efforts in educating the next generation.
